Sarah Hughes is the reigning US Junior National champion.  Sarah is known for her powerful jumps and her very good consistency in competition.  She began skating at the age of 3 because her older brothers and sisters skated.

Sarah has had quite an impressive skating season this year. After winning her national title in January she was assigned to the international team.  She won a medal at every single competition she skated in this season.  In September, she competed at the Jr. World selections in Naperville, IL for a spot on the Jr. World team and she won the event.  She had two solid performances at the competition and even landed a very difficult triple loop triple loop combination.

Sarah went on to win the silver medal at Jr. Worlds in Croatia in November.  This was the strongest finish by a US lady in years.  This year at Nationals in Salt Lake City she will be competing as a senior lady.

Sarah has many interests besides skating.  She plays the violin, reads mysteries, and enjoys tennis.  She is an honors student, and hopes to become a doctor someday.
